It's honestly some of the best animation I've seen for an animated show. And Amity is an excellent take on the bully character, having the most development out of everyone in Season 1 and her relationship with Luz, going from bitter rivals to great friends (with a little bit of romance in it, but we'll leave that for later.) And of course, there's the animation, which is honestly breathtaking and wonderful. The former not only is a fun character on her own right (being voiced by Wendie Malick kinda comes with the territory), but I enjoy her relationship with Luz and King.
My personal favorites however have to be Eda and Amity. It also has some lovable and interesting characters like Luz herself, Willow, Gus, King, Edric and Emira and Principal Bump, as well as some threatening villains like Lilith, Boscha and Emperor Belos. It has some interesting elements added into it, like the Boiling Isles themselves, an exploration on how a human like Luz can learn magic without having the naturality of witches, the fact that curses are treated like health conditions, and the rather intriguing commentary on facist goverments and historical revisionism. Basically a reconstruction of the fantasy genre. While it kinda started like a pretty simple fantasy story about being who you are despite what everyone tells you, it took an interesting spin around the second episode by actively playing with those fantasy tropes and giving them their own take on it. This is a show I knew I was going to like, but I never would've expected to be as obsessed with it as I am now.

After an adventure with them, Luz decides to spend the rest of the summer learning how to be a witch with Eda, and in the process she meets some new friends, learn important lessons, fight the corrupt goverment that's ruled the Isles for decades, and discover what it truly means to be a witch, as well as discover what kind of person she wants to be.
There she meets Eda Clawthorne (voiced by Wendie Malick), a criminal witch who soon becomes her mentor and mother figure, as well as King (voiced by Alex Hirsch), Eda's roommate and self-proclaimed king of demons. However, when a little owl takes one of Luz's books to an abandoned house, Luz ends up stumbling upon a portal that takes her to the Boiling Isles, a realm where witches, demons and monsters live and practice magic. So her mother sends her to a summer camp in orders to srtaighten her out and hopefully be able to create a normal life for her. It's about a young girl named Luz Noceda, who absolutely loves fantasy and magic, but is seen as an outcast for those very same reasons. that doesn't mean this year hasn't given us some good, and I personally think that one of the best things this year's left us is without a doubt The Owl House. Not only did we get to be on a year long quarantine because of a pandemic no one was prepared for, but it's safe to say that the world's economy has taken a huge blow from this.īut.
Not just for the entertainment indusrty, but one of the worst years in human history. 2020 has been one of the worst years ever.
